Edmonton Expo 2013 – BACK! And BIGGER BETTER THAN EVER!
Edmonton’s show for everything pop culture returned bigger and better than ever with more exhibitors artists writers performers packing the weekend. The fans did not disappoint as cosplay was taken to the next level, and who better to share the experience than OH! Jessica Nigri who appeared on behalf of the fine folks at Cherry Sauce Clothing!!
The panels were the main feature. JPHiP caught up with the festivities on Sunday and we were blown away. First we had cult hero Jon Heder of Napoleon Dynamite fame. He admitted that he felt right at home at conventions such as Edmonton Expo. “I love geeky stuff,” he said imitating his character. The Zelda fan entertained the crowd with his dance moves and interpretation of what it would be like if he was cast as Batman’s sidekick Robin.
He may be known for bad ass big guys, but veteran actor Ron Perlman has a soft side and is shown in such iconic roles as Hellboy to The Beast on Beauty and the Beast and the latest ventures Sons of Anarchy and Archer, where he plays the gay Cuban ex-spy Ramon Limon. Yet through all the make up and his huge frame, he prefers the independent character driven pieces with superb scripts.
And finally, he needed no introduction GREAT SCOTT! Christopher Lloyd. Star of Taxi,Back to the Future, and many other roles produced anecdote after anecdote about his films and working with the likes of Michael J. Fox and Andy Kaufman.
The sets were great, making it feel like a taste of San Diego ComicCon way up North. The guests such as Nitemare on Elm Street actor Robert Englund (“Freddie Kreuger”) took plenty of time to talk to fans. We look forward to what they will have in store for 2014, starting September 26-28 http://edmontonexpo.com
